Clubfoot, also known as talipes equinovarus, is a congenital condition where a baby’s foot is twisted out of shape or position. It can affect one or both feet and occurs when the tendons connecting the leg muscles to the foot bones are shorter than normal, causing the foot to turn inward and downward. Clubfoot can usually be diagnosed at birth and is treatable with early intervention, typically through a combination of stretching, casting, bracing, and in some cases, surgery. Early treatment is crucial to prevent long-term complications and help the child develop a normal gait.
